Rift live client is available for download

That's right everyone, you can now download the client:

hursday, Feb. 24, 2011 at 10:00 AM PST (1800 GMT) through launch (North America: Mar. 1, at 10:00 AM PST / Europe: Mar. 4, at 1600 GMT).

The forces of the Ascended will soon swell with new recruits as everyone who has pre-ordered RIFT will be able to join in the defense of Telara. Guardians and Defiant alike will take up arms as the six planes invade and the battle against the Blood Storm begins.

If you have the RIFT beta client on your hard drive, be sure to uninstall it before installing RIFT.

Steam™ & Amazon® download customers – If you’ve already downloaded the client from Steam or Amazon, there’s no need to download it again. Just make sure your game is patched!

Pre-order customers – Please remember, you must have a Product Registration Code applied to your account to continue access when RIFT launches (North America: Mar. 1, 2011 / Europe: Mar. 4, 2011).

am currently installing... sigh at my internet bill this month (had to install the game 3 times now).

Yes, if you ordered through Trion they updated your account with the code automatically

what's the error?

does it say the patch client failed to update or does the error happen once you actually start download the game?

Client DL works fine. It happens when you try to login (to patch). Probably because the patch servers are still down would be my guess.

They've stickied up that the problem is going to be fixed 'tonight' which means... errr sometime for us .

I didnt realise we would need to reinstall before the headstart

Just uninstalled the beta version and now for a very long download..

Yeah it’s interesting how this has surprised a lot of people. I guess this is one of the few things Trion didn’t communicate well on.

Couldn't a lot of stuff from the beta client be reused, such as textures, sound files, etc? Wondering if installing over the beta client and then using the recover function would work only to update the files that have changed other than doing a full download all over again.
